Tiny11 Builder is a native Windows app for building smaller, customized Windows 11 ISOs. It's aimed at people who want to strip bloat out of a stock Windows image before installing it, whether that's for a lean VM template, a low-spec machine, or a personal install without the usual bundled apps. It replaces the older PowerShell-based tiny11 scripts with a GUI, though those original scripts still live in the repo for anyone who prefers them.

The app works against a Windows 11 image you supply, either downloaded through the app or sourced yourself, and walks you through choosing what gets removed before it packages the result into a new ISO.

Key features

  • Three build modes: Tiny11 removes bundled apps and unwanted features while keeping Windows Update, Defender, and recovery intact.
  • Tiny11 Core: a more aggressive mode that also strips servicing and recovery support and disables Defender, at the cost of future updates.
  • Custom mode: pick individual apps, components, features, and services to remove or keep, for granular control over the final image.
  • Turbo mode: speeds up image processing during the build.
  • Resumable builds: interrupted builds can pick up from saved progress after the image has been committed or compressed.
  • Automatic installer fallback: Core and component-store removals automatically switch to the legacy Windows installer to handle those changes correctly.
  • Native WinUI interface: no PowerShell scripts to run manually, just an .exe with a standard Windows app UI.

Ideal use cases

Tiny11 Builder fits well if you want a repeatable way to produce a de-bloated Windows 11 ISO for personal machines, lab environments, VM base images, or low-resource hardware where every extra background service matters. Custom mode is useful if you need fine control over exactly which features, apps, or services survive the build, rather than accepting a fixed preset.

It's not the right tool if you need a Windows image that stays fully serviceable long-term with no caveats. Tiny11 Core specifically cannot be updated or serviced after the fact, and aggressive removals in Custom mode can break Windows if you remove something protected. It's also not meant for production or enterprise deployments where support and update guarantees matter. Always test the resulting ISO in a virtual machine before installing it on real hardware.

Installation

There's no build-from-source step required to use the app; you download a prebuilt release.

  1. Go to the latest release page.
  2. Download the ZIP matching your architecture: x64 for Intel/AMD PCs, ARM64 for Windows on ARM devices.
  3. Extract the entire ZIP to a folder (don't run it directly from inside the archive).
  4. Run Tiny11Builder.exe. You'll need to approve an administrator prompt, since image servicing requires elevated permissions.

From there, the app walks you through:

1. Welcome screen: pick Tiny11, Tiny11 Core, or Custom
2. Components screen: review or choose what gets removed (Custom mode)
3. Build settings: toggle Turbo mode and optional image cleanup
4. Build: produces your trimmed Windows 11 ISO
