T3 Code is an "agent harness control surface" for developers who already use AI coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok Build, OpenCode, or Google Antigravity on their machine. Instead of being tied to one editor's UI, T3 Code gives you a mobile app, web app, and Electron desktop app to control whichever agent CLIs are installed and authenticated locally. It's built by the team behind other developer tools who wanted a better, remote-capable experience than existing agent front ends offered.
The project doesn't run its own AI models. It's a control layer on top of agent CLIs you install and authenticate yourself (Codex CLI, Claude Code, Cursor CLI, Grok Build CLI, OpenCode, Antigravity). If one of those is set up on your machine, T3 Code can drive it.
npx t3@latest spins up the backend and local web app directly on your machine, no account or hosted service required to try it.T3 Code fits developers who already use one or more agent CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) and want a single, consistent interface across devices instead of juggling separate desktop apps or terminal sessions for each provider. It's a good fit if you want to kick off or check on an agent task from your phone while away from your desk, or if you want a background service that keeps agents running without an active terminal.
It's also relevant if you've tried tools like the Codex desktop app, Conductor, Claude Desktop, or Cursor Glass and want something more open that you can inspect or fork.
It is not a good fit if you don't already have at least one supported agent CLI installed and authenticated. T3 Code doesn't provide AI capability on its own; it's a control surface, so you need an underlying provider account and CLI set up first. It's also early-stage software: expect bugs, and the project is largely closed to outside contributions beyond small fixes, so it's not ideal if you want to build custom features and get them merged upstream.
Before using T3 Code, install and authenticate at least one supported provider:
codex loginclaude auth loginagent logingrok loginopencode auth loginThe fastest way to try T3 Code is to run the backend directly with Node.js (requires Node 22.16+, 23.11+, or 24.10+):
npx t3@latest
This launches the backend and a local web app on your machine. Run npx t3@latest --help for the full CLI reference.
For a persistent desktop install, grab the latest release from GitHub Releases, or use a package manager:
# Windows
winget install T3Tools.T3Code
# macOS
brew install --cask t3-code
# Arch Linux (stable)
yay -S t3code-bin
# Arch Linux (nightly)
yay -S t3code-nightly-bin
If you want to build from source, T3 Code uses Vite+ and its vp command-line tool:
# macOS / Linux
curl -fsSL https://vite.plus | bash
# Windows
irm https://vite.plus/ps1 | iex
# then install dependencies
vp i
Read CONTRIBUTING.md before filing bugs or opening pull requests, since the project is currently only accepting small fixes rather than large features.
